Every one in three Asian Americans in the U.S. resides in California, making it it the state with the biggest Asian American population (6.8 million), followed by New York (2 million) and Texas (1.6 million).
New York-Newark-Jersey City, NY-NJ-PA Metro Area is the metropolitan statistical area (MSA) with the biggest Asian American population (2.3 million), followed by Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim, CA Metro Area (2.2 million), and San Francisco-Oakland-Hayward, CA Metro Area (1.2 million).
The mean individual income of Asian Americans is $41,947, 26% higher than the U.S. average ($33,315);
The median household income is $85,800, 38% higher than the over all U.S. population ($61,800).
Over half (54%) of Asian Americans over the age of 25 hold a bachelor’s degree or higher as compared to 32% of the total population, the highest of any ethnic or racial group.
A quarter of Asian Americans 25 and older work in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), as compared to 12% of the total population.
